Katharina Picandet hinterfragt das (nicht nur) in Bezug auf Thomas Meineckes Schreiben immer wieder gebrauchte Schlagwort vom Autor als DJ, der seinen Roman aus bereits bestehenden Texten montiert: Inwiefern sind Schreiben und Samplen, sind ein Romantext und ein DJ-Set, sind Lesen und Hören bzw. Tanzen wirklich vergleichbar, und zu welcher Erkenntnis führt ein solcher Vergleich? Zunächst wird hierzu auf der Basis von Meineckes zahlreichen Äußerungen über sein Schreiben seine Autorpoetik formuliert, besonders sein Verständnis von Pop und seine Haltung gegenüber Zitaten/Samples. In einem zweiten Schritt wird, vornehmlich an dem zu einem großen Teil aus Zitaten bestehenden Roman Hellblau (2001), untersucht, was und wie dort zitiert und montiert wird. Drittens wird skizziert, wie eine mögliche pop-adäquate Lektüre des Romans aussehen könnte und ob diese Meineckes Autorpoetik angemessen ist.
