Klimawandelleugnung und Ideologie
Heute hören wir die zweite Vorlesung zum Thema Klimawandelleugnung. Zu Gast ist Marlis Wullenkord. Sie ist Postdoc an der Universität Lund im Bereich Psychologie. Genauer gesagt befasst sie sich mit „Environmental Psychology“ und erforscht, wie Individuen mit globalen Umweltkrisen umgehen. Ein Forschungsschwerpunkt von Marlis Wullenkord ist dabei die Empfindungen und psychologischen Bedürfnisse, die sowohl hinter Klimawandelverleugnung, als auch hinter Klimaschutz und Klimaaktivismus stecken.
In der heutigen Vorlesung wird es vor allem um ihre aktuellen Forschungsfragen gehen. Welche Emotionen verbinden Individuen mit dem globalen Wandel unserer Umwelt und wie reagieren sie darauf? Was sind Strategien um mit diessen Veränderungen umzugehen? Um diese und weitere Fragen wird sich unser heutiger Vortrag mit dem Titel “Klimawandelleugnung und Ideologie” drehen

Der Thwaites-Gletscher schmilzt schneller als erwartet, die fortschreitende Desertifikation nimmt Millionen von Menschen ihre Existenzgrundlage, Waldbrände wüten in Sibirien, in Kanada und im Mittelmeerraum, immer wieder treffen heftige Unwetter Südostasien, auch in Deutschland gibt es Überschwemmungen und tausende Hitzetote.
Gesellschaften im Globalen Süden leiden sehr stark unter den Folgen der Klimakrise, doch diese ist, wie der vergangene Hitzesommer zeigt, auch im Globalen Norden alles andere als ein düsteres Zukunftsszenario. Das ist vielen Menschen bewusst, oftmals fehlt aber das Wissen über entscheidende Zusammenhänge. Dies ist nicht zuletzt wichtig, um in alltäglichen Debatten gut argumentieren zu können. Wie sieht eine Welt aus, die 3 °C wärmer ist? Welche Folgen hat das Artensterben? Welche politischen Kämpfe werden im Namen der Klimakrise geführt und welche Rolle spielen post- und neokoloniale Strukturen?
Obwohl der nachhaltige Schutz unseres Planeten eine gesamtgesellschaftliche Aufgabe ist, steht das Thema nur selten auf akademischen Lehrplänen. Eine Entwicklung klimagerechter Curricula ist dringend geboten, interdisziplinärer Austausch und entsprechendes Handeln sind längst überfällig! Kurzum: Zur Bewältigung der Klimakrise braucht es uns alle!
Die “Fridays for Future”-Liste im AStA der Universität Hamburg möchte im Wintersemester 2023/24 in Kooperation mit dem ISA-Zentrum die Ringvorlesung in einer sechsten Auflage präsentieren. In 14 Vorlesungen werden Dozierende aus den unterschiedlichsten Fachrichtungen, Aktivist*innen und bekannte Persönlichkeiten ihr Wissen über die Klimakrise vorstellen und somit allen Zuhörer*innen wichtige Grundlagen zur Bekämpfung der Klimakrise mit auf den Weg geben.
