Die Griechen betrachteten ihre Gesetze einerseits als altehrwürdig und unveränderlich. Andererseits erforderte die Realität die Einführung neuer Gesetze, die Änderung bestehender und die Abschaffung missliebiger Gesetze. Einige damit befasste Institutionen und einige darauf gerichtete Verfahren sind uns aus attischen Reden und aus Inschriften bekannt.

The first lecture series of the 'Center for the Interdisciplinary Study of Ancient Law' (CISAL) will focus on the diversity of the interdisciplinary research field of Ancient Legal History. Therefore, the geographical, chronological, and typological range of the available sources will be reviewed, and approaches and methods of both disciplines evaluated. Furthermore, the invited speakers, all being renowned scholars of Ancient Law or Ancient History, will present insight into current research projects.
