Fedora is a flexible, extensible, open source repository platform for managing, preserving, and providing access to digital content. Fedora is used in a wide variety of institutions including libraries, museums, archives, and government organizations. The Fedora community recently released version 5.0, which brings the software into alignment with the recently published API specification. In 2019, the focus will shift to replacing the current, ModeShape-based API implementation with a more performant, preservation-focused application that implements the Oxford Common File Layout standard. This presentation will provide an overview of the most significant developments and initiatives in the Fedora community, with a focus on the impact on current and prospective users.
