Vorträge von der gemeinsamen Jahrestagung der Fachgruppen Medien, Öffentlichkeit und Geschlecht und Visuelle Kommunikation in der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Publizistik- und Kommunikationswissenschaft (DGPuK) vom 28. bis 30. September 2016 in Hamburg. Organisiert wurde die Tagung in Zusammenarbeit mit den DGPuK-Fachgruppen von Prof. Dr. Irene Neverla und Dr. Monika Pater (Mitglieder des Research Center Media and Communication; RCMC).

Die Tagung befasste sich mit Körperbildern und Körperpraktiken, die in mediatisierten Lebenswelten und Alltagspraktiken durch visuelle Repräsentationen zum Ausdruck kommen, und damit Identitätskonstruktionen, vor allem Geschlechteridentitäten, (re-)produzieren und auch modifizieren. Themenfelder waren Körperoptimierung und -disziplinierung, visuelle Inklusion und Exklusion, Visibilität und Vulnerabilität von Körperbildern, aber auch Protestformen mittels mediatisierter Körperpraktiken.
